Rampant corruption, nepotism and cadre deployment of a perfect <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kakistocracy" target="_blank">kakistocracy</a> has led to the collapse of effective government. </span></p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;">How are they still staying in power ?<br /></span><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">The ANC has managed to survive 25 years of bad government through a programmatic and systemic damage to the education system and an abuse of the tribal nature of much of the population.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: normal;">By keeping the masses uneducated or very badly educated, they could fool the people into believing that they were doing a good job. By abusing the fact that much of the rural population in South Africa follows a tribal structure, they could stay in power. They did this by paying off the headman of each village to </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">become</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"> an ANC supporter. By doing this, they then ensured that the whole village would be voting for them as villagers trust their headman to give them direction in all these things. The moment something appears to threaten the "gravy train" shouts of "racism" or "colonialism" are uttered to draw the attention away from the actual issues. </span><br /><br />Saving face...<br /><span style="font-weight: 400;">In Africa, no one is ever to blame or takes responsibility for any problems. The African culture is 100 times worse than the Chinese of Japanese cultures when faces with issues of "saving face". The other problem in Africa is that women are disregarded as having a voice. Yes, women are often put in "important" positions, but this is done more for appearances than any real concern over equality. Just look at how many women are raped and how many cultures in Africa even regard rape as a "status" symbol for men.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Africa and South Africa has to get over itself and these self imposed attitudes before it can make any progress. Until we as Africans realise that ALL actions have consequences and that we need to consider more than just today and "my" needs, we will not compete on a global platform and we will continue to be abused by the likes of China and Russia who take full advantage of the African blind-spots, gullibility and greed.</span></span></div></h4>sl0m0http://www.blogger.com/profile/02632937271067636961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166299888503647236.post-75856142606132923092019-10-01T15:07:00.000+02:002019-10-01T15:09:03.114+02:002017-07 Why "password" isn't...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="960" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirKzUEX5QX7sCM_1LvXWEcNP6GUcwe1GyjQXgo73uUheG4gmtdOV0WtICOKRorIRg2Iej4SSXBRkbg_6lldrw5vBecCAOzQWqfPSG0B3xeCLV3rEoT-o0r8JfVhoWyLLvhEa5klKmf3Qo/s320/cyber-hacker.jpg" width="320" /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h2 style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>How to choose (design) a good password</b> </span></h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A good password is more than just some obscure word or a random combination of characters. Modern password cracking software can easily break passwords in a surprisingly short time. Any password shorter than 12 characters is fair game and even longer passwords can fall if not constructed correctly.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So what is the procedure to construct a fairly safe password. To do this we need to bring in some thought as to what a password is and how it is used.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Your password(s) are the key to your personal data, you business reputation (as far as your website and email is concerned) and sometimes, even some financial transactions. Making a long, complex password can also be counter-productive if you need to write it down or save it somewhere just to remember it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Password policies which force you to change your password every week or month can also end up being counter-productive, as this only encourages people to either write down the current password, or make their passwords "easy" so that they can remember them.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The following method can assist in negating both the previous issues and still give you a secure password that is not hard to remember (for you).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlQfnIs8MrJ5xl0MDqHldn1vLMc8TKAQyFLhtO4PlnkhjmqKYd7HbnnkFlpKrcGOyCsoZGgA7XHaWvlyMIQHfflXNvRiXs6DM7-lLwpOjZpBCo5Z73CWUyXunVs7z8GXH2aJ56ZqixGk4/s1600/remind-1556610_960_720.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="345" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlQfnIs8MrJ5xl0MDqHldn1vLMc8TKAQyFLhtO4PlnkhjmqKYd7HbnnkFlpKrcGOyCsoZGgA7XHaWvlyMIQHfflXNvRiXs6DM7-lLwpOjZpBCo5Z73CWUyXunVs7z8GXH2aJ56ZqixGk4/s200/remind-1556610_960_720.png" width="95" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Method</span></h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>1.</b> Choose a phrase of between 12 and 20 characters. Remember, windows based systems can often not take passwords longer than 16 characters, so keep that in mind. Start with ALL lowercase.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My sample phrase is:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">i like feeding cats = 16 characters</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>2.</b> Change every 2nd word to start with a capital letter, starting from the first or the second word, as you like. I will start from the second word.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">i <span style="background-color: white;"><b style="color: red;">L</b>i</span>ke feeding <b><span style="color: red;">C</span></b>ats</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>3.</b> Substitute numbers for similar looking letters ( i -> 1, o -> 0, e -> 3 )</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Make your own rules here, for example, I will substitute only ever second occurence, thus</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">i <b>L<span style="color: red;">1</span></b>ke f<b><span style="color: red;">3</span></b>eding <b>C</b>ats</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>4.</b> Substitute less used characters for similar looking characters ( s -> $, a -> @, etc)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">i <b>L1</b>ke f<b>3</b>eding <b>C<span style="color: red;">@</span></b>t<b><span style="color: red;">$</span></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;"><br /></span></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>5. </b>Remove all spaces:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">iL1kef3edingC@t$</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>6. </b>If you can, add a random non-regular character to the start or end:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">#</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">iL1kef3edingC@t$</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now you have a strong password !</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">He’s all about optimizing his efforts.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Meanwhile, this </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0HoqjxfvJ4" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">army ant death spiral</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> is the perfect example of why busyness is bad. Nature’s busiest creatures can literally kill themselves from lack of a clear goal. The death spiral happens when the Queen is absent and each ant follows the scent of the ant in front in her absence. They’re using all their energy to go around in a circle and eventually, they’ll all die from busyness.</span></div>
<h2 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 2em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 15px 0px 8px;">
Busyness Is Natural</h2>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">We humans are hardly any better. In our persistent folly we still wear our busyness as a badge of honor. We’re perversely proud of the free time we don’t have.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">A </span><a href="http://www.xoomworks.com/bi/2016/05/12/what-exactly-is-gained-by-competitive-overtime/" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">study of 1,000 office UK workers</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> conducted by business intelligence firm Xoomworks proves this, revealing a trend for ‘competitive busyness’. The study showed that 31% of office workers had sent emails outside of office hours to signal to others how busy they were. Fifty four percent admitted staying late just to impress superiors.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Busyness is a cultural phenomenon. The problem is, when busyness is rewarded, productivity suffers. Germans work on average </span><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/mar/18/german-stereotypes-uber-efficiency" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">256 fewer hours per year</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> than Britons, but remain the </span><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/feb/18/uk-productivity-gap-widens-to-worst-level-since-records-began" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">most productive country in Europe</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">, according to the UK’s Office for National Statistics. And they are the third largest exporter in the world.</span></div>
<h2 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 2em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 15px 0px 8px;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Why Slowing Down May Be Key To Productivity</strong></h2>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><img alt="daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png" height="324" sizes="(max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px" src="https://blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=647&height=324&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png" srcset="//blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=324&height=162&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png 324w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=647&height=324&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png 647w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=971&height=486&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png 971w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=1294&height=648&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png 1294w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=1618&height=810&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png 1618w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png?t=1485297984580&width=1941&height=972&name=daydreaming_is_good_for_you.png 1941w" style="border-radius: 4px; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: bottom;" width="647" /></span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Productivity techniques are great for harnessing productive energy and cutting out wasted effort. But sometimes you just can’t harness the concentration needed to be truly productive. Focus eludes you and you feel like you’re running in sand. There’s a reason for that: </span>It’s called flow.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Flow state is defined as that elusive sense of being at one with the task at hand, or being ‘in the zone’. Author and entrepreneur Steven Kotler has </span><a href="http://riseofsuperman.com/" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">explored and written</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> broadly on the neuroscience of flow state, and he posits that optimal mental efficiency isn’t brought on by hyper-activity in the brain (aka ‘firing on all cylinders’), but rather by </span>hypo-activity, <span style="box-sizing: border-box;">where the parts of the brain that can distract us from being productive are slowed down.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Kotler </span><a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-playing-field/201402/flow-states-and-creativity" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">explains</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> that flow state occurs when our brain waves are slowed down from the fast-moving beta waves common in waking consciousness, to the slowed down borderline between alpha and theta waves that are associated with day-dreaming mode.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Combining these two states can actually enhance your creativity. Kotler explains, “Since creativity is always recombinatory—the product of novel information bumping into old thoughts to create something startlingly new—being able to slip between thoughts quickly and combine them wildly enhances creativity at a very fundamental level.”</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">So there you have it, daydreaming is good for you.</span></div>
<h2 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 2em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 15px 0px 8px;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">The Importance Of Slacking Off</strong></h2>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Kotler recommends immersive non-work related tasks to boost productivity and kick start the flow state. Most employees seem to agree with him. According to </span><a href="http://www.marginalia.online/the-productivity-paradox-uk-economy-gains-120-billion-per-year-when-employees-slack-off/" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">research</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">, 74% spend at least 30 minutes per day ‘slacking off’, and most believe the mental breaks actually make them more productive. Almost a quarter of those employees chose social media as their means of productive slacking off.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">A separate </span><a href="http://cit.edu.au/partnerships/industry_connection/2010_february/social_media" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">study</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> from the University of Melbourne bears this out, claiming that workers who engaged in recreational social media use for less than 20 minutes per day were 9% more productive.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">So if you find that slacking off for a half hour gets your creative juices flowing again, you should strive to do it.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Tip: </strong>Allocate a five-minute slot in your <a href="http://blog.trello.com/how-to-pomodoro-your-way-to-productivity" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Pomodoro system</a> for reading Tweets from influencers in your industry.</div>
<h2 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 2em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 15px 0px 8px;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Take-Home Techniques From Prince & Jerry Seinfeld</strong></h2>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">As with almost all questions in life, Prince, one of the most productive musicians of all time, had the answer before anyone asked. In 1985, on his song Raspberry Beret, Prince sang:</span></div>
<blockquote style="border-left: 4px solid rgb(0, 121, 191); box-sizing: border-box; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.6em; margin: 0px; padding-left: 1em;">
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">“Seems that I was </span><strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">busy doing something close to nothing </strong>/<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;"> </strong><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">But different than the day before”</span></div>
</blockquote>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">In just three bars and 16 words, Prince illuminated the drab futility of busyness better than any LinkedIn Influencer post that sponsored its way into your feed. And Prince was monumentally productive. But crucially, he was also </span>effective<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">. Thirty-nine studio albums, eight of which hit number one, five number one singles and 150 million units shifted are testament to that.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<em style="box-sizing: border-box;">What can Prince teach us about busyness, productivity and effectiveness?</em></div>

</ul>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Tip:</strong> Productivity is good, but If you’re looking for results, focus your energy on <em style="box-sizing: border-box;">effective</em> productivity.</span></div>

<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">5 Productivity Techniques To Try </strong></h2>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">So how do you make the transition from being busy to being effective, via being productive? Productivity techniques are designed to convert your effort into progress. But remember, if they don’t lead to effectiveness (or turn you into Prince), ditch them and try something else.</span></div>
<h3 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 1.414em 0px 0.5em;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Productivity Technique 1: Pomodoro</strong></h3>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">The </span><a href="http://blog.trello.com/how-to-pomodoro-your-way-to-productivity" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">concept is simple</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">. Split your work day into time boxes. Time yourself as you work, breaking your workflow into fixed time boxes. The traditional approach is to work for 25 minutes, with 5-minute breaks, followed by a longer break. Be disciplined with breaks.</span></div>

<h3 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 1.414em 0px 0.5em;">
Productivity Technique 2: SMART To-Do Lists</h3>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Another simple one. Write a list of the </span><strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">actions </strong><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">you want to complete. The key to getting the best out of this approach is </span><a href="http://blog.trello.com/the-psychology-of-checklists-why-setting-small-goals-motivates-us-to-accomplish-bigger-things" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">make your list items S.M.A.R.T</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">They must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-related. For example:</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">“Call Kelly, Alex and Martha before 10.30am,” is good.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">“Speak to some prospects” is bad.</span><strong style="box-sizing: border-box;"><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /></strong></div>
<h3 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 1.414em 0px 0.5em;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Productivity Technique 3: Getting Things Done</strong></h3>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">David Allen’s </span><a href="http://gettingthingsdone.com/" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Getting Things Done </span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">should resonate with anyone who suffers from idea fatigue. It’s a customizable system designed to help you make good choices about how you spend time and to foster confidence in your decisions.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">There are rules to follow though. For example, once you’ve listed the things that have your immediate attention, ask yourself if there is an action you can take. If not, trash it, delegate it or file it.</span></div>
<h3 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 1.414em 0px 0.5em;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Productivity Technique 4: Don’t Break The Chain</strong></h3>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;"><img alt="dont_break_chain.png" height="323" sizes="(max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px" src="https://blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=647&height=323&name=dont_break_chain.png" srcset="//blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=324&height=162&name=dont_break_chain.png 324w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=647&height=323&name=dont_break_chain.png 647w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=971&height=485&name=dont_break_chain.png 971w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=1294&height=646&name=dont_break_chain.png 1294w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=1618&height=808&name=dont_break_chain.png 1618w, //blog.trello.com/hs-fs/hubfs/dont_break_chain.png?t=1485297984580&width=1941&height=969&name=dont_break_chain.png 1941w" style="border-radius: 4px; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: bottom;" width="647" /></strong></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Perfect for longer term goals. The system, </span><a href="http://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">purportedly used by Jerry Seinfeld</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">, simply requires you to to pick a goal and set a date in the calendar by which that goal must be realized. Mark off the preceding days and use the chain of days as a motivator.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Many popular apps use the “chain” method to increase user participation. The chain is often called a “streak,” or a successive number of days in a row that a user logs into the app. The longer a user goes without breaking the streak, the </span><a href="http://blog.trello.com/get-more-done-gamify-your-life" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">more awards and badges</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> they are given. Popular apps like Duolingo, Headspace, and even the New York Times Crossword app implement this method.</span></div>
<h3 style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.3em; margin: 1.414em 0px 0.5em;">
<strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Productivity Technique 5: The Action Method</strong></h3>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">This is more of a system than a technique. Originally </span><a href="https://www.behance.net/gallery/398751/Action-Method-Products-(100-Eco-Sustainable)" rel="nofollow" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #0079bf; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">developed by Behance</span></a><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"> as a project management system, it requires that you assign an action to every interaction. So if you’re in a meeting, you need to leave with a list of actions. Not goals per se, but specific steps that you need to take.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 1.3em;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box;">Overall, there’s no perfect productivity method. Think of the above as frameworks in which to optimize your own output. Try a few, keep the elements that work and ditch the rest.</span></div>

<h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>So, you want to be a freelancer...... working for yourself ? </b></span></h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>I</b></span> have tried this gig twice in the past, once with great success and great luck, once with limited success and much perseverance. It's a tough gig, but really, the essence of this business is the same as any other business - perseverance regardless of result !<br />
<br />
Many self employed fail or give up because they did not make enough to make ends meet in the 1st, 2nd or 6th month. What they also did not do is take stock of where they started and where they ended - often with more clients than they started with. Take this gradual growth and project it down the line another 6 months and see where you might be then. You have 4 scenarios:<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Started with 0-5 clients, after 6 months had 0-5 clients - gave up</li>
<li>Started with 0-5 clients, after 6 months had 10-15 clients, could not pay the bills - gave up.</li>
<li>Started with 0-5 clients, after 6 months had 30-30 clients, sat back satisfied and stopped marketing, business goes bang after 12-18 months </li>
<li>Started with 0-5 clients, after 6 months had 50-70 clients, could not handle the workload - gave up. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTk7mc6rIOFuIdzhndZ_nUgmLiCRnueXWSdc6tdGGdz4A5Glm-hY9itXmibBvEUYqXBvsZTXi9Xy1aOp8H8vkSYJNhLhDmJq3BzuUYnvR-uYZyYg45s9BQLYwLdcS96BaiFLc5Fr4Lqsg/s1600/entr2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="122" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTk7mc6rIOFuIdzhndZ_nUgmLiCRnueXWSdc6tdGGdz4A5Glm-hY9itXmibBvEUYqXBvsZTXi9Xy1aOp8H8vkSYJNhLhDmJq3BzuUYnvR-uYZyYg45s9BQLYwLdcS96BaiFLc5Fr4Lqsg/s200/entr2.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
</li>
</ol>
<br />
<b>Scenario 1</b><br />
If client growth is not happening, change your approach, try it all until you get it right. Read other entrepreneur's stories, see what they did and adapt that to your scenario. Above all, don't get stuck in a rut.<br />
<br />
<b>Scenario 2</b><br />
If client growth is slow, but steady - keep at it. Try to add to your arsenal of current methods, but do not give up. You could just be in a slow economic cycle - endure and persevere - cut a few comforts, sacrifice a few things - in the end, you will win.<br />
<br />
<b>Scenario 3</b><br />
He who rests on his laurels will crush them ! Never take success for granted. Keep up the search for clients, keep learning new skills, move with the market, make new contacts. You need a well buffered income to pad the lean times which are always only a phone call away. Once you stop working for it, your business will stop working for you. Consistent effort pays off !<br />
<br />
<b> </b><br />
<b>Scenario 4</b><br />
Beware of fast growth ! You may have hit the perfect marketing plan, product or service and suddenly, everyone wants your service. Do not be afraid to rope in an extra pair of hands - because then you have become an employer ! Make sure you choose help you can TRUST above all else - skills can be learnt, but trust and integrity come built in or not at all.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvkIy-IKQZkYagYJVQTulYwAicEUQXgqdoOYJg3KuugSngZrintRslxxkZN2dRV_8h5BlFGPkOZ3tHatdkcSWo-KOObvwUWtAt39p0ULjUr1b7jkyhZTHymIinc8W3aHNSw_OEbMgVmSA/s1600/Conscious-Entrepreneur-Small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvkIy-IKQZkYagYJVQTulYwAicEUQXgqdoOYJg3KuugSngZrintRslxxkZN2dRV_8h5BlFGPkOZ3tHatdkcSWo-KOObvwUWtAt39p0ULjUr1b7jkyhZTHymIinc8W3aHNSw_OEbMgVmSA/s320/Conscious-Entrepreneur-Small.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<b> </b><br />
<b>The key ingredient of success is to let failure be the teacher ! </b><br />
Accept the fact that failing is part of the process. Perseverance, endurance, tenacity in the face of adversity are all the traits that can lead to success. Of course you need a good service or product as well, but great businessmen often make a living of a mediocre product or service that they provide better than anyone else ! How to do this is up to you, but the first step is to earn the client's trust. Trust is the glue between you and your clients - without it, no deal will last very long.<br />
<br />
Some outside help with this trust issue is always a bonus, and this is where <a href="http://www.toptal.com/software" target="_blank">TOPTAL</a> comes to the rescue.<br />
They pre-screen you so that your clients (through <a href="http://www.toptal.com/software" target="_blank">TOPTAL</a>) know that they are getting the REAL deal and not some scam or spam artist.<br />
<br />
Try them - you won't regret it.<br />

Turmeric is a herbaceous herb (also known as <em style="box-sizing: border-box;">Curcuma longa</em>) that is a member of the ginger family, which has been used throughout India and the Orient for thousands of years. Historical records note that ancient Polynesians took turmeric with them when they sailed across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii where the spice is still used today and known as ’olena.</div>

In India, this golden spice has long been called “holy powder,” and is used extensively to treat infections, wounds and a myriad of other health problems. Its healing power was once thought of as only a folktale; however, modern research is now confirming what the people of India and many parts of Asia have known for thousands of years — turmeric is a spice you don’t want to pass up.</div>
Scientists are finding an astonishing array of antioxidant, anticancer, antiviral, antibiotic, antifungal and antibacterial properties. As an immune system booster, turmeric is 5 to 8 times stronger than vitamin C and E.<br />

Studies show that curcumin, the principal curcuminoid of turmeric, inserts itself into cell membranes where it does a little house-cleaning and reorganizing, adding vibrancy to the cell itself. Suddenly a disorganized cell becomes organized, allowing information to flow through it so it can function more effectively. The result of this action increases the cell’s resistance to infection and malignancy, which can keep a number of serious conditions at bay, including the following:</div>

<span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: 700;">Cancer</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Cases of the four most common cancers found in America are very low in India where turmeric is a food staple. These cancers include colon, breast, prostate and lung, occurring ten times less frequently in India than in the U.S. Prostate cancer, which is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the United States, is hardly ever found in Indian men.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<a href="http://www.greenmedinfo.com/disease/cancers-multi-drug-resistant" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #336699; text-decoration: none; transition: all 0.1s ease-in-out;" target="_blank">Studies</a> that have examined the medicinal impact of curcumin have found that it keeps cells from changing from normal to cancerous and stops the spread of existing cancerous cells.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Furthermore, it works in conjunction with the body to destroy existing cancer cells so they are<a href="http://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/are-cancer-stem-cells-key-discovering-cure" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #336699; text-decoration: none; transition: all 0.1s ease-in-out;" target="_blank"> unable to spread</a>to the rest of the body. Liver function is enhanced in those that use curcumin regularly, and it appears to prevent additional blood from reaching cancer cells, which retards their growth.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, reports that curcumin blocks the pathway in the body that is required for melanoma and other cancers to develop. In a laboratory setting, curcumin actually causes cancer cells to commit suicide. In addition, it has been found to shut down the protein needed to induce an inflammatory response.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: 700;">Inflammation (turmeric reduces pain and swelling)</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Curcumin is probably best known for its strong anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is a normal and beneficial process that occurs when white blood cells and chemicals in the body join up to protect you from foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses. So, some level of inflammation is good and required for health. However, the inflammatory response often gets out of control.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
This happens when the immune system triggers an inflammatory response without a real threat. This can easily cause excess inflammation to stay in the body; a condition that is linked to allergies, heart disease, autoimmune disease, cancer (discussed above) and other serious medical conditions. Excess inflammation can also cause irritation to tissues, which translates into the pain, swelling and redness so often seen in people suffering from osteoarthritis.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
According to one study, patients who suffered from osteoarthritis who added 200 mg of curcumin daily to their treatment plan, had a significant decrease in pain and much improved mobility. The control group, who received no curcumin, had no improvements.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
In another study, turmeric extract blocked the inflammation pathways which prevented the protein responsible for swelling and pain from triggering.<br />
So many people with inflammation-induced pain take non-steroidal medications such as Tylenol for relief, however, chronic use of these medications has been associated with some rather serious side effects, such as cardiovascular problems, kidney and liver damage as well as gastrointestinal problems.</div>

I love to make a super delicious dip for veggies using organic yogurt, turmeric, dried onion, and salt and pepper. I have also combined turmeric with raw honey for an amazing facial exfoliator paste. To relieve dry and cracked heels, I mix coconut oil and turmeric and let it sit on my feet for about 15 minutes before having a shower.</div>

<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
If curcumin is the super power in turmeric, should we take it alone or with the spice in its whole state?</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Studies have been performed to determine whether turmeric or curcumin is more effective. The results supported the hypothesis that “a crude extract of turmeric is more effective than the purified compound curcumin in curing human ailments” because it offers the full spectrum of curcuminoids.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Another study also emphasized the role of synergistic effects of other constituents of turmeric extract on the antioxidant activity of curcumin.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
As you can see, using the complete turmeric root is better than removing the most active compound and consuming it in an isolated state. The whole root contains co-active molecules, ones that work together for the most benefit.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
It’s also worth noting that there are ways to make your complete turmeric even more effective with other foods that help the body absorb it.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9619120" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #336699; text-decoration: none; transition: all 0.1s ease-in-out;" target="_blank">Black pepper </a>(with its active chemical piperine) is one, and cayenne pepper (capsaicin) is another. One study showed that turmeric and cayenne pepper were each individually beneficial for the reduction of cholesterol oxidation, liver toxicity and inflammation, but the beneficial effect was greater when they were consumed together.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Another important consideration is that curcuminoids are fat soluble. Any fat soluble nutrient or vitamin should always be consumed with another food containing fat, so that it can be most effectively absorbed.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
The best way to absorb curcumin is to combine a tablespoon of curcumin powder with 1–2 egg yolks and two teaspoons of melted coconut oil. This will emulsify the powder and enhance absorption.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Use organic and fresh turmeric liberally in the kitchen. It has an earthy and peppery flavor.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 12px; padding: 0px;">

<div style="line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Password entropy is a measurement of how unpredictable a password is.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Password entropy is based on the character set used (which is expansible by using lowercase, uppercase, numbers as well as symbols) as well as password length. Password entropy predicts how difficult a given password would be to crack through guessing, <a href="http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/definition/brute-force-cracking" style="color: #663366; outline: 0px;">brute force</a> cracking, <a href="http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/definition/dictionary-attack" style="color: #663366; outline: 0px;">dictionary attacks</a> or other common methods.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Password entropy is usually expressed in terms of bits: A password that is already known has zero bits of entropy; one that would be guessed on the first attempt half the time would have 1 bit of entropy. A password's entropy can be calculated by finding the entropy per character, which is a log base 2 of the number of characters in the character set used, multiplied by the number of characters<br />in the password itself.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 20px;">
<a href="http://searchsoftwarequality.techtarget.com/definition/NIST" style="color: #663366; outline: 0px;">NIST</a> provides the following guidelines for user-selected passwords with 30 bits of entropy:</div>
<ul style="list-style-image: none; list-style-position: outside; margin: 0px 0px 20px 25px; padding: 0px;">
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Use a minimum of 8 characters selected from a 94-character set.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Include at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, one number and one special character.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Use a dictionary of common words that users should avoid, like a <a href="http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/password-blacklist" style="color: #663366; outline: 0px;">password blacklist</a>.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Don’t use any permutations of your username as your password.</li>
</ul>
<div style="line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Of course password entropy can't be the only thing considered or passwords would be too long, complex and unmemorable. Best practices involve employing something memorable to the user but not easily guessed by anyone else. Because password length is one of the most important factors affecting password entropy and overall strength, a longer password can be simpler than a shorter one and still be effective.</div>

Many of the beliefs we have around what constitutes a “good” password are created by what default policies in software such as Microsoft teach us.<br />We are led to believe that a minimum length of 8 characters, a good mixture of UPPER and lower-case, numbers and uncommon (i.e. $@#&!) characters automatically make a good password.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
Many Systems Administrators and Systems Engineers never delve into the analysis behind a password due to the above IT <a data-mce-href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme" rel="nofollow" style="color: #8c68cb; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">MEME</a> created in large by the software industry. So what constitutes a strong password and why is our <a data-mce-href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme" rel="nofollow" style="color: #8c68cb; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">MEME</a> a concern. Surely our passwords have stood the test of time.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
What we need to keep in mind is that computing power has been increasing at an incredible rate and access to this computing power has become easier and easier. Lately, harnessing the power of multiple GPU’s has become the standard method to crack passwords. A recent password cracking cluster built with easily accessible hardware, managed to show that it could crack every standard Windows password in less than 6 hours. (<a data-mce-href="http://arstechnica.com/security/2012/12/25-gpu-cluster-cracks-every-standard-windows-password-in-6-hours/" href="http://arstechnica.com/security/2012/12/25-gpu-cluster-cracks-every-standard-windows-password-in-6-hours/" style="color: #8c68cb; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">GPU Cluster cracks passwords</a>)</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
This is seriously scary tech for anyone connected with security on networks. Gone are the days of setting a password and never touching it again - at Windows complexity levels, that is. Even changing passwords regularly is no guarantee against a machine that only needs 6 hours to crack open ANY Windows password.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
What shall we then do ?</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
<img alt="" class="center" data-mce-src="http://m.c.lnkd.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/AAEAAQAAAAAAAAXWAAAAJDNmNWE2ZGI0LWEwZjAtNDhhMy1iMmM4LWVlN2RmODU4ZmY5Nw.png" height="520" src="http://m.c.lnkd.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/AAEAAQAAAAAAAAXWAAAAJDNmNWE2ZGI0LWEwZjAtNDhhMy1iMmM4LWVlN2RmODU4ZmY5Nw.png" style="display: block; height: auto; margin: 30px auto; max-width: 100%; text-align: center;" width="640" /></div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
First of all, we need to understand what makes a password difficult to crack. The key here is LENGTH. Sure, complexity plays a factor, but complexity becomes self defeating if a user cannot remember their own password. Force them to change this complex password every week or month and they WILL start writing it down. This then defeats the object of the exercise, as written down passwords can be snooped and are a very high risk.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
<span class="underline" style="text-decoration: underline;">Some facts:</span><br />A password of 8 characters (only a-z + A-Z) can be cracked by a Supercomputer in approx <strong>5 millionths of a second (0.0005s)</strong> or in about <strong>11 seconds</strong> by a PC + GPU. This password has an entropy (password strength) value of 45.6 bits.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
A password of 8 characters containing a-z, A-Z, 0-9, special characters (`~!@#$%^&*()-_=;:'",<.>?) will take a Supercomputer <strong>0.05 seconds</strong> to crack and a PC + GPU only <strong>17 minutes</strong>.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
Keeping the password simple (a-z + A-Z), but increasing the length by only 2 characters ( from 8 to 10 ) will make the Supercomputer take <strong>1 secon</strong>d to crack it and the PC + GPU crack time increases to <strong>8 hours</strong> !</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
Adding another 2 characters now makes our 12 character password crackable in <strong>1 hour</strong> by Supercomputer, but our PC + GPU will now take <strong>2 YEARS !</strong> Password entropy has now increased to 68.4 bits.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
Should we become creative and construct our password as an easy to remember object of some length such as “MydogsnameisButch” (17 characters) with an entropy of 96.9bits, our Supercomputer now needs <strong>47,125 YEARS</strong> and our PC + GPU needs <strong>942 MILLION YEARS</strong> to crack this !</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
On top of being very difficult to crack (by a computer), our password has the advantage of being easy to remember.</div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
<strong>This does not mean that ALL restrictions must be removed from password complexity. A good requirement would be 12-16 characters, at least 2 Uppercase and no more than 2 consecutive repeated letters. The 16 character limit allows the password to be used in a Windows environment. The above password would have to be changed to “MydogsNameisBob” (Entropy value of 85.5 bits)</strong></div>
<div style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961); font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 32px;">
In general, an entropy of over 80 is considered to be a very strong password.</div>

hoe meer geniet ek Saterdagoggende.<br />
</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt;">Miskien is dit die stil
alleenheid wat daarmee kom om eerste op te staan, of miskien die uitbundige vreugde om nie werk toe te gaan nie.<br />
Hoe dit ookal sy, die eerste paar ure op 'n Saterdagoggend is die lekkerste..<br />
<br />
"'n Paar weke gelede was ek op pad na die
motorhuis met 'n stomende koppie koffie in die een hand en die oggendkoerant in die ander hand. Wat as 'n tipiese Saterdag begin het sou draai in een van daardie lesse wat die lewe van tyd tot tyd vir 'n mens gee. Laat ek vir jou hiervan vertel.<br />
<br />
<br />
"'Wel Tom, dit klink sekerlik dat jy baie besig
is in jou werk.<br />
<br />
"Dit is toe wat die man sy teorie van 'n
duisend albasters verduidelik.<u5:p></u5:p></span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="NL" style="font-size: 12pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">
"'Jy sien, ek het eendag gesit en 'n bietjie somme gemaak. </span></span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Die gemiddelde persoon leef 75 jaar. Ek weet, sommige leef meer en sommige minder, maar gemiddeld, leef mense ongeveer 75 jaar.<br />
<br />
<br />
"'Van daardie dag af het ek elke Saterdagoggend
een albaster uitgehaal en weggegooi. Ek het agtergekom soos ek die albasters sien minder raak, ek al meer gefokus het op die regtige belangrike dinge in die lewe.<br />
<br />
"'Daar is niks soos om te sien hoe jou tyd op
die aarde besig is om uit te hardloop, om jou te help om jou prioriteite reg te kry nie.<br />
<br />
"'Wel, laat ek jou vertel voordat ek van die
lug afgaan om my lieflike vrou vir ete uit te neem. Vanoggend het ek die laaste albaster uit die fles gehaal. Ek reken indien ek dit volgende Saterdag maak, is ek 'n klein bietjie ekstra tyd gegun. En die een ding wat ons almal kan gebruik is 'n klein bietjie ekstra tyd.<br />
<br />
"'Dit was lekker om met jou te kon gesels, Tom,
ek hoop jy spandeer meer tyd met jou gesin, en ek hoop ons ontmoet weer hier op die lug. Dit is 'n 75-jarige ou man, K9NZQ wat groet, oor en uit.'<br />
<br />
"Jy kon 'n speld op die lug hoor val toe die
man van die lug afgaan.. Ek reken hy het vir ons almal iets gegee om oor na te dink. Ekself het beplan om die oggend te werk aan die antenna van my radio, en daarna was ek van plan om met 'n paar van die ander radioamateurs saam te werk aan ons klub se nuusbrief.<br />
<br />
"Ek het egter - instede daarvan om dit te doen
- die trappe opgeklim na ons slaapkamer en my vrou met 'n soen wakker gemaak. 'Komaan my vroutjie,<br />

</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on the end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots was perfectly made and never leaked. The other pot had a crack in it and by the time the water bearer reached his master's house it had leaked much of it's water and was only half full.</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his master's house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you." "Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?" "I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again the pot apologized to the bearer for its failure.</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But if we will allow it, God will use our flaws to grace his table. In God's great economy, nothing goes to waste. Don't be afraid of your flaws. Acknowledge them, and you too can be the cause of beauty. Know that in our weakness we find our strength</div><div style="font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />

Faith is believing in that which we cannot see, hear, touch or sense in any normal way. Thus, if we have prayed to God to provide us with a solution, we must have faith that He will provide it, for that is what He promises in His word. Of course we have to do what we can from our side - we do the possible, God deals with the impossible. Two thing that are hard, for me especially, to remember are this: 1, even though we do what we can, we still only do it through God's grace and power, thus He must get all the credit, and 2, God will do the rest IN HIS TIME, which usually has NOTHING to do with our concept of time. I am usually stressed and in a semi-panic when God puts His hand on my shoulder and says (I imagine with a slight smile on His face) "What are you worried about, don't you trust me - see, here is the solution."</span>sl0m0http://www.blogger.com/profile/02632937271067636961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166299888503647236.post-10720784442841478522011-07-11T08:10:00.003+02:002011-07-11T20:19:09.502+02:00When life throws you around........<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">One life lesson I have learned with the help and encouragement of my lovely wife, is that when life throws you around and you feel as though you are going to come crashing down on your head, don't try to land on your feet - land on your knees !</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">From your knees you look up at the world, you learn the right attitude. From your knees you are equal to your fellow man. On your knees you are vulnerable. On your knees you are closer to the earth - away from worldly comforts. And lastly, on your knees you learn to get to the point before your knees start killing you !</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">God listens </span><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">when we are on our knees - not because He wants us to suffer or be uncomfortable, but because when we are on our knees He knows our focus is on Him and we are serious. On our knees we show God that we do not think we are better than our brothers or sisters on earth and that we are not ashamed to show others that we are praying to God. On our knees we are also an encouragement for our fellow Christians as God wants us to be. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">So land on your knees and God will help you to your feet.</span><br />

And you brace yourself because you know what’s coming…<br />
<br />
It will be a torrent of ‘yeah-buts’ – basically, objections to giving time, money or effort to performance measurement. Are you going to sit back and take it, or do something about it before it even happens?<br />
<br />
<u><b><span class="caps">OBJECTION</span> 1: Performance measurement hasn’t worked in the past.</b></u><br />
What’s happening with this objection is that the person is assuming that because there has so far been no successful approach to performance measurement, that means there can’t be a successful approach in the future. Your focus should be on raising and challenging this assumption, and offering an approach to performance measurement that acknowledges the causes of failure and show how that approach solves those causes.<br />
<br />
<div class="center-align margin-bottom18"><a class="no-deco" href="http://dashboard.kpilibrary.com/?iref=expert_article"><img alt="KPI Dashboard" border="0" height="60" src="http://kpilibrary.s3.amazonaws.com/images/dashboard_banner_468x60.png" width="468" /></a></div><br />
A constructive response: “You’re absolutely right that performance measurement has had problems – we’ve got too many measures, people don’t find the measures useful, they don’t align to our strategy and staff are spending too much time collecting data for these useless measures. So if we want performance measurement to succeed, we obviously need to take a different approach, and an approach that deliberately solves and prevents these kinds of problems. Here’s how my proposed approach does that…”<br />
<br />
<u><b><span class="caps">OBJECTION</span> 2: We don’t have time for performance measurement.</b></u><br />
At the foundation of this objection is the assumption that everything people are currently doing is of a higher priority than performance measurement. We already know that people spend a lot of time on urgent things that aren’t in alignment with strategy or that are rework resulting from ineffective or inefficient processes. You simply need to highlight how good performance measures can reduce the time wasted on these kinds of activities, and therefore is of a higher priority than these activities.<br />
<br />
A constructive response: “I agree – it seems like we’re all getting busier and busier and the last thing we need is something <span class="caps">ELSE</span> to try and squeeze into our days. And yet I can’t help noticing how a good proportion of the things we do can be done so much easier and quicker. For example, [insert some well-research examples from your organisation]. I truly believe that it’s better to risk taking time out from some of these urgent-but-not-important activities, in order to prevent them from continuing to happen in the future.”<br />
<br />
<u><b><span class="caps">OBJECTION</span> 3: We already know what matters, performance measures won’t tell us anything new.</b></u><br />
The assumption propping up this objection is that just by looking around or relying on our experience with the work we do, we can see and know everything that matters. But the truth is, we all have biases caused by our values and moods and what we notice and what we don’t notice. And these biases prevent us from seeing objectively the patterns and trends that data can show us more quickly and easily.<br />
It’s not hard to demonstrate this with a few examples of how data has led people to surprising and valuable insights they otherwise would have missed.<br />
<br />
A constructive response: “Our people have a fantastic knowledge of the work they do and a very strong commitment to doing their best. Our job is to empower them, so they can more easily focus on what will produce the best results. We can’t expect them to simultaneously watch the big picture as well as what’s right in front of them. Performance measures are great for showing them what’s happening in the big picture, quickly and easily, so they can make the best choices about what’s currently in front of them. For example, [insert some examples of how performance measures have produced insights that no-one noticed from just looking around].”<br />
<br />
Be prepared, respectful, honest and focused on the big picture.<br />
Handling objections to performance measurement requires that you dig a little deeper to understand the assumptions people are making that lead to their objections, raising those assumptions so everyone realises they are there, and then stimulating some dialogue to move beyond the objection.<br />
<br />
<b>It’s not about being a smarty-pants or winning a debate with the person who voices the objection. It’s about elevating the dialogue to a constructive level, so you can all get a better understanding and movement forward.</b><br />
<br />
<b><span class="caps">TAKE</span> <span class="caps">ACTION</span>:</b><br />
Which of these three objections is blocking your path to better performance measurement? Take pen to paper for 15 minutes and prepare some well-informed, respectful and constructive responses to the ways you expect this objection to be expressed by your managers or colleagues.<br />

The difference between a happy fish swimming in the deep blue sea and a grilled halibut glistening before you is human effort. All other businesses that want to get a return on an asset must first buy the asset with money earned through work. </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><b>This is not the case for banks. They earn interest on something they don't create.</b></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">In fact, a Minnesota Judge, Martin V. Mahoney, and a jury threw out a foreclosure on defendant Jerome Daly for just that reason. Daly argued that the there was no consideration in the contract between himself and the First National Bank of Montgomery. Consideration means both parties must give up something for there to be a contract. For example, if Jack offers to paint Jill’s apartment for free, there is no contract between them. If Jack bails on his offer to paint, Jill cannot sue him. Judge Mahoney ruled the bank gave up nothing in the contract. They created the money out of thin air hence they did not commit anything to the contract; there was no consideration and the bank could not foreclose.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><b>For everyone except banks, money is an expression of human labor, creativitity, or even luck. But for banks, money is something they simply 'create' in exchange for IOU's. </b></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">See the full article <a href="http://www.activistpost.com/2011/06/moral-hazard-of-modern-banking-how.html">here</a><br />
<br />
This is why banks hate it when you pay off all your debt - this means that you don't work for them anymore !!! </div>sl0m0http://www.blogger.com/profile/02632937271067636961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166299888503647236.post-49965517575923598972011-07-01T08:47:00.000+02:002011-07-01T08:47:33.890+02:00ESKOM !<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Ok - so let me get this straight. I told him I would accept my BMW back in a fully repaired state. As I speak, they are replacing the worn out gearbox with a NEW one. I decided the undisclosed accident damage was not so serious as the car was not re-classified as rebuilt, which it would have been if it was a major chassis bender. The replaced gearbox will give me a reliable car for the next 100,000 km which is all that I want. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">This may seem a cop-out to some as I would have been fully within my rights to cancel the deal outright, but the hassles of then re-applying for finance, trying to get my deposit back, etc, made this current option the better one for me. The CPA definitely helped as without it, I would have to fork out R18,000 from my pocket above and beyond what the insurance paid for the gearbox repairs.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Thank you CPA. </span>sl0m0http://www.blogger.com/profile/02632937271067636961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166299888503647236.post-30697640194677147162011-06-14T09:59:00.000+02:002011-06-14T09:59:48.288+02:00Transport at lastAt last I have transport - the dealership has provided me a vehicle to drive with until they have sourced another BMW for me. I did not even say anything, he offered to find me a replacement vehicle, preferably a newer model, and said that he would arrange a loan vehicle while I was waiting. Excellent service, I just wonder where I would have been WITHOUT the Consumer Protection Act ?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">So far, so good - it seems that I will at last have reliable transport again........</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Thank you God for your timing in everything.</div>sl0m0http://www.blogger.com/profile/02632937271067636961noreply@blogger.com0
